��૧૮૭૭– 'અસફ હોલે' (Asaph Hall) મંગળનો ચંદ્ર ફોબોસ શોધ્યો.
��૧૯૦૩ – કહેવાય છે કે જર્મન ઇજનેર 'કાર્લ જેથો'એ, રાઇટ બંધુઓની પ્રથમ ઉડાનનાં ચાર માસ પહેલાં, પોતાનું સ્વરચિત યંત્રચાલિત ગ્લાઇડર વિમાન ઉડાડ્યું.
