૧૯૬૫ના યુદ્ધનો અંત

ભારત-પાકિસ્તાન વચ્ચે ખેલાયેલા ૧૯૬૫ના યુદ્ધમાં આજના દિવસે યુનાઇટેડ નેશન્સ સિક્યોરિટી કાઉન્સિલે ઠરાવ કરીને બંને દેશોને બિનશરતી યુદ્ધવિરામ કરવાનો આદેશ આપ્યો હતો. ભારતની સખત નારાજગી અને વિરોધ વચ્ચે બીજા દિવસે યુદ્ધવિરામ થયો હતો.

વર્ષ ૧૯૭૩ની ક્રૂડ ઓઇલની ક્રાઇસિસ વખતે રજૂ કરાયેલા કન્સેપ્ટને વર્ષ ૧૯૯૪માં સાકાર કરવામાં આવ્યો હતો. જ્યારે સમગ્ર વિશ્વના વિવિધ શહેરોમાં ૨૨મી સપ્ટેમ્બરે કારનો ઉપયોગ છોડીને લોકો સાઇકલનો ઉપયોગ કરે છે. ભારતમાં આ દિવસ વિશે જાણકારી અને જાગૃતિ ઓછી છે.


ઇરાક-ઇરાન યુદ્ધ

૨૦મી સદીમાં પરંપરાગત રીતે ખેલાયેલા સૌથી લાંબા યુદ્ધની શરૂઆત વર્ષ ૧૯૮૦માં આજના દિવસે થઈ હતી જ્યારે ઇરાકે ઇરાન ઉપર હવાઈ હુમલા શરૂ કર્યા હતા. આઠ વર્ષ ચાલેલા આ યુદ્ધમાં બંને પક્ષે બે-બે લાખથી વધુ લશ્કરી જવાનો અને નાગરિકોના મોત નોંધાયા હતા.
